Kathleen (Kathy) Adams was born in Didsbury AB, raised in Edmonton and Calgary, then moved back to the country in the Carstairs area in 1977. Even though she was raised in the city, both sides of her family were farming, which sparked her appreciation for country living, agriculture and her interest in livestock.
She was hired by the SAC in the fall of 1974 as the first office secretary, with Dale Boulton as Manager. In 1975, Kathy took part in one of the first group visits to Salers, France where she was impressed by the breed, its’ place of origin and its’ note worthy dual-purpose traits.
After an absence beginning in 1977, Kathy returned to SAC in September 2003 as Secretary-Manager and Registrar. She was appointed as International Salers Federation representative for Canada in March 2007, and will travel in that capacity to promote Salers and Canadian genetics internationally.
Kathy has been, and will continue to travel in Canada to meet members and to promote the breed, as well as the Association and it’s programs. She believes it’s important to put a face to that name or that voice on the phone when dealing with people; she also believes in providing the best possible membership services, quality publications and documentation for the Salers breed.
Salers is her breed of choice, and she currently operates a small farming operation with a few head of purebred Salers females.
